What is Tixel®?

A fractional thermo-mechanical skin rejuvenation system. Tixel employs a hot metallic pyramidal Tip to transfer heat by conduction upon contact with tissue.

expand_more
What type of energy is applied on the skin?

Tixel® transfers thermal energy (heat) directly to the tissue. Tixel® is radiaiton-free.

expand_more
How does the energy transfer to the skin from the Tip?

Energy is transferred by brief contact. The Tip is kept hot. The tip apexes touch the skin briefly and recede.

expand_more
Does the Tip protrude the skin physically?

The Tip does not protrude the skin. Tixel is non invasive.

expand_more
What are the properties of the Tip?
  • Medical grade titanium
  • Self sterilizing (in USA: disinfecting) at working temperature
  • Biocompatible
  • Durable and easy to clean
  • Does not degrade over time
expand_more
How is the Tip cleaned after treatment?

The tip can be easily cleaned by brushing with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol).

expand_more
Can the Tip be disinfected?

The heat automatically disinfects the Tip.

expand_more
Which parameters are used to control heat transfer?

The handpiece controls:

  • Contact Time (by speed) - ”pulse duration" in msec
  • Thermal matching (by distance) - “protrusion" in microns

This provides control over thermal effect dimensions: Depth and Width.

What is the pain level during treatment? and how long is down time?

On a scale of 1-10 pain level during treatment varies between 2-4 depending on settings. After treatment, skin is slightly swollen and red for 3 to 4 hours. Patients experience mild erythema and heat sensation for 2 to 3 hours. There is minimal downtime from 0 to 2 days, depending on treatment intensity. Micro-crusting will appear the following day but this can be covered up with make-up until it disappears after a few days.
